Although our main aim is to promote independent living in Aberdeen City, Aberdeen Care and Repair have been working with young people by offering work placements and traineeships in a supported environment for a number of years.
Our support of these schemes provide young people with hands-on work experience, improving their confidence and their chances of gaining permanent employment after their work placement is finished. It also encourages inter-generational Communication and allows young people to be aware of the issues facing older and disabled people.
Over the last 5 years we have:
- supported 81 young people into employment by providing placements in joinery, plumbing, customer services and administration roles within the organisation.
- Provided 23,037 hours of work experience
- Directly employed 4 trainees who have moved on to customer services, finance, and support roles within the organisation
- Supported trainees into permanent employment and/or further training and development.
