Youth Employment

Although our main aim is to promote independent living in Aberdeen City, Aberdeen Care and Repair have been working with young people by offering work placements and traineeships in a supported environment for a number of years.

Our support of these schemes provide young people with hands-on work experience, improving their confidence and their chances of gaining permanent employment after their work placement is finished. It also encourages inter-generational Communication and allows young people to be aware of the issues facing older and disabled people.

Over the last 5 years we have:

  • supported 81 young people into employment by providing placements in joinery, plumbing, customer services and administration roles within the organisation.
  • Provided 23,037 hours of work experience
  • Directly employed 4 trainees who have moved on to customer services, finance, and support roles within the organisation
  • Supported trainees into permanent employment and/or further training and development.
